AR Books (Library Books)
I am sure you have noticed or your child has mentioned that they check out an AR book each week.
These books are a part of the Accelerated Reading Program.
Your child takes a comprehension test when they have completed the book. We have set a goal of 10 points by Thanksgiving. The longer and harder books are worth more points than the picture books. You can find the number of points inside the AR books front cover.
*Please encourage your child to read their AR book. Our computer lab times are perfect for taking the tests -Tuesdays and Thursdays.
*Students should be reading 30 minutes or more a day.
* Remember to record reading minutes in the planner.
I will record the weekly totals on Mondays and give students the tickets they have earned.
1 Ticket = 5 days of reading
2 Tickets = 7 days of reading
*Initial planners daily when student's homework is complete.
Each student needs a three ring binder with two pockets.
The binder will hold our planner sheets. Note that each day you will be made aware of the expectations for the next day. So on Tuesday the planner explains that the student should wear appropriate PE clothing because Wednesday is our PE day. It is important to help your child get into the habit of following this each day. So please take just a minute and look over it and initial if the items have been completed and to ensure your child is prepared for the next day.
